History

poLight was founded in 2005 and has since then build world class expertise in the area of optics, polymers and MEMS technology. The poLight team consists of world class researchers and developers, all with the aim to develop the best imaging technologies ever seen.

During 2016 polight will supply main customers and partners with Engineering samples of the TLens Silver and will start mass production mid 2016.

    The original idea for the TLens from a SINTEF scientist (Karl-Henrik Haugholt), he got the idea inspired by Ignis’ soft polymer material that was developed by Ignis in cooperation with SINTEF for telecom components

    Ignis was a publically listed (OSX) telecom company, with offices in Kista (SE), Horten (NO) and Birkerød (DK)

    Ignis and poLight started a soft funded project called TLENS (Tunable Lens, Norwegian Research Council)

  • 2006

    First patent application filed (by SINTEF)

  • 2007

    Ignis Display formed as a subsidiary of Ignis, with approximately. 10% private investors

  • 2008

    SINTEF entered as investor

  • 2008

    Ignis Display changed name to poLight

    Started industrialization project with Silex (SE)
